Betty Miller

February 2, 1941 — August 19, 2019

CLEVELAND - Betty G. Miller, age 78, of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019, at the Delta Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Friday, August 23, 2019, at the Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland.  A Celebration of Life Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 PM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be at the Belzoni Cemetery in Belzoni, Mississippi. Reverend Bill Kirkpatrick will officiate the services. 

Betty was born on February 02, 1941 to Oliver W. and Lucille (Brunt) Greene in Jena, Louisiana. Betty grew up in Belzoni, Mississippi before moving to Cleveland where she graduated from Cleveland High School. She also attended Delta State University.   She married John W. Miller.  They lived in Illinois for a few years and later moved to Marks, Mississippi before moving back to Cleveland. Betty was a retired Supervisor for the State of Mississippi Department of Human Services. She retired after 35 years of faithful service. Betty loved her community, she volunteered at the Bolivar Medical Center and for the Long-Term Care Unit helping with crafts. She also volunteered at the Bologna Performing Arts Center and The Baptist Student Union at Delta State University. Betty also enjoyed working in her flower beds, walking, and most importantly take care of and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Cleveland.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Lucille Greene, her husband John W. Miller, and a brother Kenneth Greene.

Betty is survived by two sons, James Gary Miller of Lexington, KY and Michael H. (Lynette) Miller of Cleveland, MS. Four grandsons, Joshua Miller of New Orleans, LA, John Michael Miller of Nashville, TN, Victor Miller of Pearl, MS, and Cash Miller of Cleveland, MS.  Five granddaughters, Jamie Miller of New Orleans, LA, Jordan Miller of New Orleans, LA, Lindsay Boyette (Bill) Gidden of Hernando, MS, Lainey Boyette (Wesley) Aldridge of Cleveland, MS, and Landry Boyette (Hunter) Stewart of Cleveland, MS. She also leaves eight great-grandchildren to cherish her memory; Mary Stanford Gidden, William Henry Gidden, Anna Word Gidden, Reed Love, Rowan Love, John Rutlyn Aldridge, Mary Wesley Aldridge, and Harper Stewart.

Pallbearers will be Bill Gidden, Wesley Aldridge, Hunter Stewart, John Michael Miller, Victor Miller, and Joshua Miller.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
