CLEVELAND--Toma Williams "Mickey" Garner, age 78, of Cleveland, MS, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

A visitation will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Cleveland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM in the Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Robert Haney will officiate. A Facebook live will be available for viewing by way of the Cleveland Funeral Home Facebook page. Due to COVID restrictions, face masks must be worn and social distancing will be practiced.

Mickey was born January 21, 1942, to John C. and Mattie Garner, Sr in Jonestown, MS. He grew up in Jonestown, where he was the youngest of 10 children. From an early age, Mickey loved pulling pranks and joking with others. He loved family and friends and never met a stranger.
After graduating high school, Mickey moved to Cleveland where he raised his family and lived out the remainder of his life. Mickey was a salesman for Denton Dairy and later retired from Baxter Laboratories. For someone who could not be still, retirement was not for him and he found himself working at Little China to pass the time and interact with others. Mickey loved hunting, fishing, collecting arrowheads, and watching westerns. Mickey was a member of Morrison Chapel Baptist Church.
Mickey is preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Mattie L. Hillard Garner; Brothers, John C. Garner, Jr., Hulon Garner, and Billy Sam Garner; Sisters, Mattie P. Reid, Daphne Grimes, Hortense Garner, and Geraldine McKinney.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Wanda Garner; Two daughters, Melissa (Don) Sims and Cindy (Mike) Mathews; step-son, Michael Reginelli; Two granddaughters, Kelsey Mathews and Madison Sims; A brother, Robert Garner; A sister, Beverly Abel; Two Brothers-in-law, Larry (Brenda) Scruggs, Jim (Martha) Scruggs; Sister-in-law, Angel (David) Junkin along with a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38501 or LeBonheur Children's Hospital, www.lebonheur.org.
